Dreary day. As expected, 2 days to a public holiday, things hit a high. At least i didn’t have to work on anything that’s remotely associated with ISO-whatever and Lean Six Sigma-ish either.
Grey t-shirt from Mphosis
Accessorized w silver gears necklace known as Heavy Mettle by CarrieK Artisan Jewellery
Gunmetal grey mini skirt from Moschino cheap and chic
Sarah from the office had just received her new bag bought online – faux textured leather near-black roomy bag.
It was supposed to be a simple dinner gathering to welcome a friend’s husband from London… But I had to lay my eyes on the latest Infinity rings collection from local designer Carrie K.
I succumbed… Couldn’t resist this pretty silver ring that fits oh-so-nicely on my stubby fingers
…where the famed Michalangelo’s painting resides but where the post dinner convo turned to nails and manicure.
CarrieK’s Infinity ring and a big manly watch.
Seen in the world famous Changi International Airport in Singapore, pink glitter boots and deadly red & green combo.
The greatest danger of wandering around Anthropologie is that I’ll almost always find something to buy.
I picked up this blue braided belt in the clearance section. Today I tried it out with my Old Navy tube dress and got lots of compliments.
The price makes me happy too: $9.95, marked down from $48. Say whaaaaat?!
One of my best fashion buys this year has to be the gears necklace called Heavy Mettle by CarrieK. (mettle as in play on the attribute, not a typo)
Browsing through the latest department stores’ Fall fashion guides, i could see how easily these gears fit in.
Seriously great mileage!
While in search of glass bowls at Ross a couple of days ago, I chanced upon this ceramic “egg crate” for $2.39.
I now have my most-commonly used earrings within easy reach, and no more fumbling in a jewelry box for the correct pair of matching pearl earrings!
I’m pretty pleased with my $2 buy!
A slightly new spin on old staples: I added a new belt (which came with a denim dress) to my clearance $5 Old Navy top.
Denim skirt: Ralph Lauren ($39)
Purse: Calvin Klein
…. and I was ready for an Ikea adventure!
My late grandma’s ring used to fit the larger fingers on my right hand. Now, it seems that the left hand had caught up in size.
Note to left hand: it’s NOT a race!!
Melody Gardot played at The Orpheum Theater tonight, one of Los Angeles’ most beautiful historic venues, and we had 6th row tickets! Yaay!
Dress: Purchased in Singapore for about $50: a sweetheart neckline tube dress with batik strips accentuating the bodice / bust.
Shoes: My current faves: Enzo Angiolini heels I scored for $27 at DSW.
Purse: Faux snakeskin clutch also purchased in Singapore for something ridiculous like $3 after I used a bunch of gift cards (“vouchers”) I redeemed using points from my internet service provider.
Earrings: $7.99 from Burlington Coat Factory.
I like having reason to dress up!
I purchased this brown belt at Charlotte Russe recently for $8. Glad to know that it pairs well with my existing purse and summery espadrille wedges (not shown).
This is the second time I’ve seen Gucci purses on Groupon. Doesn’t that… take away the prestige of being a luxury brand? Would the owner of said Gucci bag really say, “Oh I got this off Groupon.”?
Keep eyes peeled for items that i would love for myself.
Do quick mental calculations.
And away we go!
3 x three-dimensional puzzles
5 x coin purses
6 x long wallets / clutches
6 x good cotton dresses for my bunnies!
Made it back to hotel (just a hop round corner from Platinum), unpack, snap pic, stuff into empty sports bag, reload water bottle and go!
We now leave u a pic of the little coin purse procured.
Remember I broke my Oscar de la Renta sunglasses recently? I managed to snag this Armani Exchange pair at a very decent price of $24.95 a couple of days ago. Thank you, Nordstrom Rack!
Besides the obvious criterion – a shape that suits my face – I always do the “hair test” on my sunglassses: do they push my hair back nicely and sit comfortably when I prop them up on my head. Anyone else does that too?
Last night at about 8pm, it occurred to me that I needed some accessories to go with this dress for a photoshoot the next day:
Cue a mad scramble, speed-walking to the mall to check out cheap accessories at Forever21, Charlotte Russe and Claire’s before the shops closed for the night. Thankfully, at New York & Co I found these Faceted Triple Drop Earrings:
(Pictured on my new Bottega-inspired clutch thingy)
Sadly, our photoshoot got rescheduled, so everything’s gotta wait. But on a positive note, I really like these earrings and can see myself wearing them again in future. Yaay!
